Attraction Overview

This is the section where Longchuan River passes through the village. Homes line both banks, creating the classic Huizhou arrangement of a settlement nestled between mountains and water. Because the Hu clan used the river embankments as streets, the area is commonly called Water Street. The two banks are named Dragon Embankment and Phoenix Street. Stone slabs and cobbles evoke a dragon spine and scales, while the white paving of Phoenix Street suggests layers of phoenix feathers. Together, the two streets form the auspicious image of dragon and phoenix bringing prosperity.

Both streets slope gradually, with Dragon Embankment higher than Phoenix Street. This reflects historical social ideas expressed through the traditional pairing of qian and kun, and is now interpreted as part of the cultural story preserved in Longchuan traditional village planning.
